About the fund
The Richard Whitehead Foundation is pleased to announce a brand new partnership with Nissan, which aims to start a journey to fund running prosthetics for 3 children or young adults in 2021 / 2022.
We will work with the 3 successful applicants throughout their journey of getting fitted for and receiving their running prosthetic, and to starting their journey toward competition. Richard Whitehead will be a key supporter along this journey.
Full details of what to expect will be covered in your initial meeting with the team after the selection process is completed.
We will be working in partnership with an organisation called SportEd who provide support to small and large sports clubs alike, to help ensure you have a club local to you; a club where you will be able to make the most of your new running prosthesis.
The Selection Process
Make sure to read this document in full before applying.
Note that if you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian will need to complete the application process and they will need to support you along the way.
If you meet the selection criteria; complete your application by clicking the ‘Apply’ button at the bottom of this page.
The initial deadline for applications is noon on 29th October 2021 (NOW CLOSED)
We will send you a confirmation email to let you know what to expect next and when to expect it.
A decision-making panel will start shortlisting applications. At this point, you may be contacted for further information.
You will be contacted to inform you of the decision.
If you are not chosen in this round of funding and are happy for us to keep your details we can let you know about any future opportunities The Richard Whitehead Foundation might have for you or provide information around other programs that could support you (or your child).
Once selected, applicants will be invited to meet (this may be virtual) some of the panel for an informal chat to find out more about the impact being involved might have on you. We will create a support plan just for you.
You (or parent / guardian if applicant is under 18) will be asked to sign a contract to be involved in the project. And then the fun really starts! We get you running!
