Racing Wheelchair donation
We were thrilled to take delivery of a new racing wheelchair in June at our Run with Rich event in Nottingham.
The wheelchair was officially handed over to us by Barbara White and Anita Cleugh from Nottinghamshire based charity When you wish upon a Star. The chair had belonged to Lee Blissett, who tragically lost his battle with cancer aged just 20 years old in December 2021. Lee’s family were keen that another young person may benefit from the racing chair and to fulfil their ambitions in sport and so kindly donated the chair to the Richard Whitehead Foundation.
Over the coming weeks and months, we are planning to launch a project to donate the chair to a young person with a disability, to hopefully enable them to fulfil their sporting ambitions in wheelchair racing. We then hope the chair can be passed on and on in the future to other people ensuring part of Lee’s legacy can carry on.
The donation from Lee’s family means we are able to offer a unique opportunity to a worthy recipient and we are incredibly grateful that we can do so on Lee’s behalf.
We’d like to thank Lee’s family for this unique opportunity and to When you wish upon a Star for helping provide the donation.
