Frame Runner’s ambition to complete the London Marathon
Julie McElroy is aiming to be the first female frame runner to complete the TCS London Marathon, fundraising for The Richard Whitehead Foundation on 21st April 2024, alongside her support runner Gill.

Richard Whitehead Foundation Nissan Possibilities Project Beneficiaries Programme 2024 Launches
The Richard Whitehead Foundation have launched the recruitment for the Class of 2024 Beneficiaries Programme supported by the Nissan Possibilities Project. After the success of the 2022 programme, we are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit a new cohort that will once again support a small number of young disabled adults (aged 18+) from England and Wales.
Maxim’s gone to the max!
Maxim Lubavskiy has been touring the UK on a journey to complete all of the AJ Bell Great Run Series events in 2023 and the London Marathon to raise funds for the Richard Whitehead Foundation.

Great North Run 2023 success
On Sunday 10th September, we were delighted to be in Newcastle to join the 60,000 people who were taking part in the Great North Run.
Supported Runner project in partnership with Nissan launched
We were excited to officially launch our new Supported Runner project on Friday 8th September, just ahead of the Great North Run. The programme is being provided in partnership with Nissan and will be working closely with the Great Run Series.

Racing Wheelchair donation
We were thrilled to take delivery of a new racing wheelchair, kindly donated by the family of Lee Blissett, in June at our Run with Rich event in Nottingham.
Great South Run
We are delighted to be able to offer places at this year’s Great South Run on Sunday 15th October 2023, for both charity runners and as part of our supported runners project.
CarFest 2023
We are very proud and excited to be joining Nissan at this year’s CarFest in Hampshire over the bank holiday weekend.
Great North Run – Children’s runs
We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity for young disabled children to be able to take part in this year’s Great North Run’s children’s event on Saturday 9th September, giving kids a chance to shine on Great North Run weekend.
Marketing support opportunity
We require a marketing agency or freelancer to shape an identity for our newest project and provide us with unique branding.
We are seeking to create a brand identity and marketing assets for our new supported running project. The aim of the project is to make running events more inclusive by providing direct support to disabled runners through the provision of a support runner.
Run with Rich 2023 successfully returns to Nottingham
The Foundation successfully delivered their second ever Run with Rich on Sunday 18 June at Holme Pierrepont Country Park in Nottingham, with 450 people taking part – their way.
London Marathon success!
On Sunday 23rd April, our founder Richard Whitehead and seven intrepid runners completed the 2023 London Marathon.

New Project Manager starts
Paul Brackley (Project Manager) joins the team as an experienced community and disability sports professional. He is passionate about using sport to support and improve communities and seeing disability sport develop and flourish. He has built up an in-depth knowledge of the sports industry and particularly disability sport initiatives, having been involved as a player, volunteer, coach, mentor, and development manager for over 22 years. He joins having successfully developed and managed one of the largest disability football programmes nationally and is keen to use those experiences to help grow our projects.
